Counter-terror arrests at Stansted after fighter jets intercept airliner

Counter-terrorism police have stated they detained two males at Stansted airport.

A 34-year-old from Kuwait and a 48-year-old from Italy had been detained through counter-terrorism officials from the Japanese Area Particular Operations Unit quickly after 7pm on Sunday, the unit stated in a remark.

The 2 males had arrived on a flight from Vienna and had been detained beneath Agenda 7 of the Terrorism Act, police stated.

The BBC has reported the Ryanair airplane used to be intercepted through RAF Hurricane jets following unconfirmed experiences of a safety risk on board.

Air tracking company Mil Radar tweeted at round 7.30pm that two Typhoons have been introduced from RAF Coningsby with monitoring appearing they turned around within the Stansted house.

Police stated their enquiries had been proceeding.
