Lonsdale gave up the ghost on Monday at 7 a.m. ET, his agent showed to CNN. The reason for his dying is unknown.
Lonsdale starred reverse Roger Moore within the 1979 movie “Moonraker” because the villain Hugo Drax, an industrialist who was once plotting to devote international genocide.
“We’re very unhappy to be informed of the passing of Michael Lonsdale, who performed Hugo Drax in Moonraker,” longtime 007 manufacturers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a tweet
. “He was once an awfully proficient actor and an overly pricey buddy. Our ideas are together with his friends and family at this unhappy time.”
The family-run twitter account for Sir Roger Moore, who died in 2017, described Lonsdale
as “a smooth-tongued and cultured adversary to 007.”
“Michael Lonsdale, a legend who will likely be overlooked however no longer forgotten!” actor Jean-Claude Van Damne wrote on Twitter
. “My ideas are together with his kinfolk, pals and enthusiasts at this unhappy time.”
Lonsdale could also be recognized for his roles in “Ronin,” “Munich” and “The Day of the Jackal.”
His remaining performing function was once within the 2016 movie “Sculpt,” which starred Willem Dafoe.
