Tribeca Film Festival to open with Apollo Theater doc

NEW YORK — The 18th version of the Tribeca Movie Pageant will open with the premiere of a documentary about New York Town’s iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem.

Pageant organizers Wednesday introduced that Roger Ross Williams’ ”The Apollo” will kick off the yearly pageant April 24. The HBO movie covers the 85-year historical past of the Apollo, main as much as a manufacturing of Ta-Nehisi (tah neh-HAH’-see) Coates’ ”Between the Global and Me.”
