The United Kingdom is making ready sanctions for human rights violations in Belarus, the overseas secretary has mentioned.
Talking within the Space of Commons, Dominic Raab mentioned Alexander Lukashenko, who was once sworn on this week as president in a secret rite, has “a wholesale loss of legitimacy”.
Mr Raab mentioned Britain does no longer settle for the result of the rigged election and condemned the “thuggery” imposed on protesters in Belarus.
He instructed the Space of Commons: “It’s crucial that the ones chargeable for the fraudulent elections and human rights violations are held to account.
“So we’re prepared to enroll in the EU in adopting centered sanctions in opposition to the ones chargeable for violence, repression and vote rigging in Belarus.”
