Former Canadian soccer player Kaylyn Kyle, a World Cup analyst for TSN, said late Tuesday that she had received death threats after criticizing the U.S. women’s national team. Kyle called out the Americans for celebrating every goal in a 13-0 blowout of Thailand.  

“As a Canadian, we would just never ever think of doing something like that,” Kyle originally said, in part, on the TSN broadcast. “For me, it’s disrespectful, it’s disgraceful. Hats off to Thailand for holding their head high.”

 After Tuesday’s game, she tweeted a response to explain and cope with the backlash:

“To the folks sending me loss of life threats, let me set the report STRAIGHT! I by no means as soon as mentioned to by no means rating as many objectives as you’ll be able to in a Global Cup!!! PLEASE WATCH FULL SEGMENT! I mentioned the complete opposite. IT’S THE WORLD CUP. You rating as many as you’ll be able to and do not take the foot off the fuel pedal!

“I did say I believed it was once over the top and disrespectful the purpose celebrations of the American group as soon as the rating hit Eight-Zero. Everybody is permitted their reviews against my ideas 100%, however please depart the loss of life threats!”

Kyle is a former midfielder who received a bronze medal with Canada in 2012 and retired in 2017. She performed for a number of years within the Nationwide Ladies’s Football League along American citizens.
